There is an entire category of Japanese foods which come in the form of something on top of plain rice in a bowl. These foods all end with don. Katsudon is pork cutlet on a bowl of rice, oyakodon (where oya means parent and ko means child) is chicken and eggs on rice, and magurodon is a kind of tuna on rice. In Magurodon, a freeware game from Uta, you play a naked man with a knife on a boat full of naked, hungry customers and must serve them magurodon made from the freshest tuna. Tuna which will kill the customers if you don't dice it up first.
The game is in Japanese, but the controls are simple. The shift key starts the game and allows you to jump if you are on the boat or on the back of a tuna fish, or to swim if you are in the water. Jumping is preferable to swimming by far, because holding down the shift key lets you travel great distances in a short amount of time. Whether jumping or swimming
Using shift while on the back of a tuna fish lets you jump, but it also slays the fish without harvesting any meat; this is useful if you need to keep the tuna from getting to the boat, but if you want to feed your customers and score points you must use the control key to carve bits of meat off of the tuna first. Upon getting back into the boat, you'll have to wait while the meat is offloaded for preparation before taking off to kill more fish. If it takes too long, you might lose a customer to a hungry tuna fish.
Magurodon is fairly simple in concept and it doesn't look like much, but it's a well-balanced action game that requires some strategic thinking as well as quick reflexes to get high scores. The game can be downloaded directly via this link , though if you're willing to sift through a Japanese web site, Uta has dozens of freeware games available for download.
