Halloween party ideas 2015

elegy.gifToday's trailer roundup features a first-person puzzle FPS prototyped during the 2012 7DFPS game jam, a game in which players engage in creative writing about what they find, a falling block puzzle in which the player moves the blocks that are already placed instead of the ones that fall, a Lemmings-style game with tetrominoes thrown into the mix, a 2D psychological horror game about a man whose failed suicide led to amnesia, a space station building game with away missions clearly inspired by Star Trek, and a game that mixes Joust with soccer.

DeadCore

Windows, Mac, Linux | $9.99 | Available now

Originally created for the 2012 7DFPS game jam under the name Deadlock, this is a first-person puzzle platformer with both story levels and dedicated speedrunning levels. Three of the speedrunning levels were created by their crowdfunding backers.

Elegy for a Dead World

Windows, Mac, Linux | $10+ | Early 2015 | Kickstarter (funded)

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! and Drunken Robot Pornography developer Dejobaan Games is taking a completely different path with this game, which will encourage players to invent and share narratives about the world they explore using whatever writing prompts the game throws at them. The game was an Independent Games Festival 2014 honorable mention, a GDC Experimental Gameplay Workshop selection, and an IndieCade 2014 selection. Its Kickstarter campaign is already funded (and then some) with a little over 24 hours to go at time of this writing.

Matchtron

Android | Free | Available now

A falling block puzzle game in which the blocks can fall towards the center from up, down, right, or left. It differs from games like Welltris because the player moves the mound of blocks in the middle around instead of the blocks that are falling.

Monomino

Windows | $5.99 | Available now

It looks a lot like Lemmings, but with the ability to add tetrominoes to the stage and change its shape.

Silence of the Sleep

Windows | $16.99 | Available now

A 2D psychological horror adventure game. From the developer: "You play as a man called Jacob Reeves. A man who has lost his reason to live. He throws himself into a blackness to end his misery, but instead of it being the end he wakes up without a memory of his life before."

The Spatials

Windows, Mac | $7.49 | Early access

This space station builder with action RPG away missions a la Star Trek is celebrating a successful Greenlight campaign and can be purchased for early access via the developer's web site.

Sportsball

Wii U | $9.99 | Late 2014

A fast-paced cross between Joust and soccer for local multiplayer gaming.
