Selfie: Sisters of the Amniotic Lens starts off by asking you "What tears do you cry that are worth bottling?" It then gives you a text box to record those dark thoughts and deeds onto, casting those damning words into the cosmos before settling into its narrative. It's comforting in some way to confess your guilt and then hurl your deeds out into the void of space, never to be seen again, but those thoughts haven't disappeared. They're out there for anyone to find and judge, absolving or condemning the one who wrote them. For those unsure whether they're looking for forgiveness or deserved condemnation, it's a beautifully liberating act to free your sins to the universe of Rail Slave Games' evocative work.

There is more to Selfie: Sisters of the Amniotic Lens than just this online confessional, with players navigating a story of strange cults, catching flies in a horrific room, and shooting down wireframe ships in a space filled with the laments of the still-living. Playing out like a fever dream, it drops you in a world of upsetting horror, tasking you with catching flies and fulfilling a ritual before you travel to the cosmos through your tv set. It changes from a world of personal horror to one where you can be more open to the horrors others face every day, and your old problems from the previous room seem that much more distant as you shoot down your ships and find messages from the other players.

Stars surround you as you shoot at those ships in your television, forgetting the monstrous thing sitting in your apartment for a few moments. If you travel to those stars, you'll find messages from other players - their own confessions. Unspeakable words have been cast out here, anonymously from other players, and you can choose to condemn of forgive them. Condemning them removes all of the funds they've gained from playing the game, but also has a chance of removing your own as well (which is a very interesting commentary in itself). Forgiveness lets you send funds, but more importantly, words of support. What will you confess, and what will be confessed to you? Selfie: Sisters of the Amniotic Lens is a powerful game, one that may just save a life through the kind words of a stranger. And that life may be yours.

Selfie: Sisters of the Amniotic Lens is available for $4.99 on Steam. For more information on it and Rail Slave Games, you can follow them on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
