1979 Revolution is an episodic adventure that puts you in the role of a young photojournalist named Reza. From what we've seen of the game so far, it seems to use Telltale-style decision-making and drama with the occasional history lesson thrown into the mix.
The history of Iran, and especially the political tensions of the last few decades, is a complex, multilayered affair, which is only compounded by mainstream media's misunderstanding, ignorance, and bias towards the region.
It'll be interesting to see how iNK Stories, the New York City-based media studio founded by Navid and Vassiliki Khonsari, chooses to tell the many stories there are to tell about that era in Iranian history. It seems others agree too - the game was greenlit on Steam in just under five days.
In the meantime, if you're interested in modern Iranian history, I'd recommend playing The Cat and the Coup, a free documentary game about the CIA-orchestrated overthrow of Iran's Prime Minister, Mohammed Mossadegh, in 1953.
