When it comes to unsafe things and places, there is little more dangerous than a single bad idea planted inside the human mind.

Such seeds can grow into dreams and nightmares, and even see them realized. That’s the beating pulse behind Mark Wonnacott’s A Vision of the Sublime.

Bitsy is perhaps my favorite of all of the game engines. It is incredibly accessible, easy to use, and it attracts a lot of people who are focused on delivering a message or telling a story. In the case of A Vision of the Sublime, we gain access to a wonderful poem told through having our character scale strange structures.

We journey through the lands of the creator, clamoring around their work space while hooked on an idea. Haunting music — actually an audio sample taken from Dark Souls — pairs perfectly with the game, and actually gives a sense of tension which A Vision of the Sublime rises to meet.

Naturally, as with many Bitsy games of this sort, I can’t talk too much about how the experience rises to its crescendo, but I will state that it does it with considerable grace and pace. It is well worth the three-four minutes of your time that it will take to experience.
