Halloween party ideas 2015

Yeah, it’s a drag that so many things are shooting at you in Freedom Finger. But what if you just grabbed your foes and used them to shoot back?

Freedom Finger will take you to all manner of goofy, surreal places, each filled with all sorts of things that don’t really appreciate being flipped off. So much so that they’ll come rushing at you or try to shoot you down. As a giant middle finger, you can fire back from your extended digit to take them out, hosing enemies with shots.

While that’s one way to fight, there’s much more that a giant mechanical hand can do. If you don’t feel like shooting, you can deliver a colossal steel punch to make foes regret bugging you. You can also just snag the enemies that float too close to you, using them as shields or using their weapons against the other enemies.

You have a bunch of different options and weapons at your disposal at any time, which adds a lot of variety of how you can play. I’m used to sticking with one or two power ups when playing shmups, but Freedom Finger encourages you to constantly switch your weapons up, or to use a bunch of offensive abilities rather than settling into using one or two. Combining this neat play style with a wild storyline, wacky voice actors, and an endlessly-surprising set of stages (which we enjoyed quite a bit a while ago) makes for some compelling, captivating shmup action.

Freedom Finger is available now on the Nintendo Switch and Steam.
