Halloween party ideas 2015

The world might seem dark and dangerous to you right now, but in 30000 years, our world of today is but a quirky world of yesterday, and an expedition is about to stumble upon the legendary lost city of Mutropolis.

Pirita Studio’s Mutropolis puts you in the role of Henry, an archaeologist in the distant future. A future so distant that ‘Made in China’ isn’t a sign of mass-production, but instead a sign of an ancient find. You’re on the cusp of a massive discovery, and your team – the best team out there – reflects that. Gadgets and thingamabobs aside, Henry is more of a traditionalist; he would rather work with a brush and trowel.

As you’ve probably already gathered, Mutropolis is a spelling error – that’s part of the charm of this point and click game. There’s the ruins of a metropolis behind the doors that the team stumble on, but the world that exists behind it is far from reflective of the world that we know. While the developers could have gone for a horror twist, they’ve instead gone for the perverse and strange – the people behind the door have been isolated from society, and have become less familiar than the strangers from the outside world.

I was lucky enough to play through a demo of Mutropolis while I was at AdventureX 2019 late last year. An interesting thing about its puzzles, which I feel needs to be mentioned, is that the majority of the demo’s puzzles are actually solved through conversation rather than traditional point and clicking. That’s not to say that the entire game will be like that, but it was a very memorable way of puzzle-solving and not what I initially expected when I sat down to play it. The earliest scenes establish the crew of archaeologists that you’ll probably be spending the rest of the game working alongside or against. I was compelled, and then, as the doors scraped open and the trailer for the rest of the game started running, it all ended. I’m definitely interested in playing more.

Mutropolis is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its developers on Twitter or add the game to your Steam Wishlist.
