Of course not. However, the blog T-Mo News has the information that aspiring data hogs need to stay within the rules. According to the memo, beginning this Sunday, August 17, T-Mobile will find, warn, and throttle customers who are using their data plans to do things that are against T-Mobile’s Terms and Conditions. You know, that long page of things that you probably didn’t read before you agreed to them. What’s against the T-Mo T&Cs? Live webcams, BitTorrent, and other peer-to-peer file-sharing. From the memo:

T-mobile has identified customers who are heavy data users and are engaged in peer-to-peer file sharing, and tethering outside of T-Mobile’s Terms and Conditions (T&C). This results in a negative data network experience for T-Mobile customers. Beginning August 17, T-Mobile will begin to address customers who are conducting activities outside of T-Mobile’s T&Cs.

If you’re caught engaging in any of these forbidden activities on the network, there’s a special team at T-Mobile that will call you up and let you know that you’ve been bad. No, really:

T-Mobile will contact customers to explain terms and conditions to them, and then advise them that data speed could be reduced until the next billing cycle IF they continue to misuse the data service.

The new rules only apply to customers on Unlimited High-Speed Data (LTE) plans. However, after you get the call telling you that you’ve “misused” your data plan, if you’re caught “misusing” it again, that’s when the Network Abuse ninja team will throttle you.

Does this count as disclosing to consumers what it takes to get throttled? The warning call is certainly helpful, and that’s better than simply throttling users without telling them what they did wrong. In theory, this is all clearly spelled out in the terms and conditions, assuming that you read them when you first signed up. Did you?

That’s at the center of a controversy between people who think rabbits should remain our furry friends and not our food, and the move by Whole Foods to start selling rabbit meat at selected stores.

Friends of pet bunnies say they’ll be showing their disapproval with the situation at Whole Foods stores this weekend, reports the Huffington Post, handing out leaflets that highlight the “popular furry companion” side of rabbits as pets.

A nonprofit group called The House Rabbit Society wants participants around the country to be nice when telling shoppers about how awesome and fun it is to have a pet rabbit, and to ask people to fill out comment cards about the rabbit meat or speak to store managers.

You can buy rabbit meat in Whole Foods Stores in certain locations in Northern California, the mid-Atlantic, the Midwest, north Atlantic, Northeast, South and Pacific Northwest right now.

Whole Foods said in a statement to HuffPo that the company is “sensitive to the companion animal issue,” and that the only reason rabbit meat is for sale is because customers asked for it.

“A number of shoppers have been asking Whole Foods Market to carry rabbit for years but conventional raising practices do not meet our rigorous animal welfare standards,” he said. “To meet our customers’ requests for rabbit we needed our own set of animal welfare standards. These animal welfare standards are a direct result of a rigorous four-year process to address the welfare issues in rabbit production.”

The folks at DealNews looked at prices for laptops and tablets at online stores for a handful of the country’s top-ranked colleges (including the greatest school to ever allow me to graduate), and found that 68% of the time you’ll do better by shopping elsewhere.

The average price difference was 35%, but in some cases, this disparity between off-campus prices and those charged by college stores is significantly larger.

I got flashbacks of being fleeced by the University of Virginia bookstore when I read that it was trying to sell a first-generation 16GB iPad mini $469 — a tablet that DealNews can be purchased for as little as $199 this summer if you know where to look. And as the site points out, that price tag is still $70 more than you’ll pay to buy the newer version of the tablet directly from Apple.

DealNews also warns consumers to not assume that Apple’s educational discount will save them the most money. The site found instances in which retailers were offering deals that could save you up to $50 more than the Apple discount.
