I'd say most of us have probably heard the words "inspired by Silent Hill and David Lynch" so many times, that we know how rare it is for anything to actually meet our own expectations for that. I would be lying if I said the phrase didn't at least pique my interest time and time again, though, especially when it's accompanied by similarly intriguing descriptors.
Enter: Sylvio.
Sylvio is an upcoming horror game that puts you in the role of an audio recordist named Juliette Waters, who specializes in capturing the sounds of the supernatural. Juliette is drawn to an abandoned family park haunted by a curse from the surrounding woods, hoping to capture some good ghost wails with the help of her stereo microphone and oscillator.
Naturally, her endeavors take a horrific turn when she finds herself somehow trapped in the park, and at the mercy of the spirits haunting it.
Looks and sounds pretty neat so far. The only thing that's a little off-putting is the character model's face, which you can see in the trailer up above. It does feel a little David Lynch-y, but not in the way I'd hope. For anyone who played Siren, the effect looks similar.
If you like what you see, you can vote for Sylvio on Steam Greenlight. It's currently being developed for PC and Mac, with no conclusive release date yet.
