It's quickly on the way to a Triple power-up too, as the Kickstarter for Koji Igarashi's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has already surpassed 1.4 million dollars since it went live yesterday, completely smashing it's $500 000 goal. Igarashi, a man famous for the induction of Metroid-like elements into the Castlevania franchise, hasn't produced any entries in the series since Harmony of Despair several years ago, but the itch to create huge gothic castles and fill them with monsters from all manner of mythology hasn't dulled. Now, after months of complete silence, he has come to his fans with a new game set in a whole different universe.

That being said, there isn't a whole lot of information or screenshots to go on, leaving us to look at a little bit of concept artwork and some gameplay ideas. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will feature the familiar 2D exploration and action RPG elements that have made Igarashi's games so popular, and will be heading to Steam, Xbox One, and PS4 upon completion. Beyond that, we have a few concepts of lead character Miriam, an orphaned alchemist whose body is slowly crystallizing due to a curse. The cure (naturally) is in an old, demon-filled castle that's been summoned by an old friend, Gebel. Those alchemist skills will help you make new items and tools as you explore that castle, allowing you to craft things from enemy item drops.

That's about all that there is to know right now, but Igarashi's pedigree alone is enough to get a lot of lovers of old castles and monsters on board. He'll be joined by Michiru Yamane, composer for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Ippo Yamada, composer of some sweet Mega Man tunes, for the soundtrack, and has also picked up David Hayter, voice of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, to provide some wonderful magic for your ears. It's still a lot of promises and hope at the moment, but with the cash just rolling it, it could mean something pretty amazing for Castlevania fans.
