Risk-like strategy games, elegant, fast-paced, turn-based offerings played on a map, that is, are one of the tactical sub-genres I find myself hopelessly addicted with. Provided they are done well, they can be a surprisingly clever way to skip several nights worth of sleep while moving knights (sorry) around and conquering worlds. You'll be happy to know then that Lux Delux is both very well designed indeed and has just made its Steam debut for Windows, Mac and Linux.

As one would expect, Lux Delux is a world domination TBS that's deep and fun. As one would probably fail to anticipate, it's also a game that's been in development for quite a bit and this shows. Ever since one of its earliest versions was nominated as an IGF finalist back in 2005, Lux Delux has grown, matured and improved to become a truly excellent genre offering.

Featuring hundreds of maps, varied AI opponents, a biohazard mode, online multiplayer battles complete with league rankings, dozens of display options and a great core, this is something tactically minded gamers should experience.
