Brooklyn Gamery, developers of Prism Shell, hosted a 48 hour multiplayer-themed game jam a few weeks ago, releasing thirteen games for people to try out. MultiJam Ultra 2015: Arcade Edition had no particular focus on whether it was friendly or competitive co-op, and the devs created a handful of neat titles where players worked together to face down galactic threats, battled to see who could cover the other player with the most blood, or solved all online political issues through rousing games of ping pong. If you've got a pal sitting alongside you, there's something for you to try out here.
If you're looking to compete, why not grab Shotgun Breeze, a game of two best pals trying to see who can cover the other with more blood by shooting zombies with shotguns? The drag is that when folks get excited while blasting shells, they tend to shoot each other, and it's considered poor sportsmanship to kill your buddy. There's Line Up for those who don't necessarily want to dead friends, where you take turns placing colored balls in a line. Your friend can knock your color away by placing a ball of the same color down in the same row, though, so things might get heated over what seems like a friendly game. Things get real even dirtier when you play Fairy Fight Arena, a game where players try to pick up magic dust while floating through the grass. Seems cute until you start smashing other players on the head so you can steal their dust and win.
If you want something leaning more towards teamwork, And I'll Form the Head has you covered. While starting with a team of ships where you're all blasting oncoming evil skulls in space, when the leader of your enemies hits the scene, you'll need to form one giant robot to fight back. With different players working movement and attacks, you'll need good teamwork to win. Even though it seems competitive, Fusion Fren...er...Star Wa...ok... involves firing shots into the other bullets players shoot, and smashing enough of these shots together brings about a delightful supernova. There's even more fun, different multiplayer experiences waiting to be had on the jam's site, so call up a friend and give some of them a shot.
All of the titles from MultiJam Ultra 2015: Arcade Edition are available to play for free on the jam's GameJolt site. For more information on Brooklyn Gamery, you can head to the developer's site or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
