Halloween party ideas 2015

5.jpgIt's been a while since the last trailer roundup, for which I apologize. This roundup's trailers run the gamut from horror to calming to egg-propelled space ships bouncing off of each other in space.

Affliction
Windows, Mac, XB1 | $TBA | Sometime 2016

From the developer: "It's an open world, narrative exploration game in the same vein as Gone Home and Everyone's Gone to the Rapture, but created for more general audience.... While you uncover clues and memories, Reapers (tall, shadowy creatures hellbent on having your soul) hunt you down intelligently. When yo die, you leap into another body of a random, nearby person. It could be a man, woman or child. By leaping into that person you take on their physical gifts and limitations."

Alter
Windows, Mac, iPad | $TBA | Early 2016

This is a teaser for a horror game made by horror fans. The list of inspirations they included in their mail is too long to list here, but includes horror movies and games old and new and from multiple countries.

Conflicks
Windows | $20 | Early access

Ridiculous egg-yolk-punk RTS Conflicks has entered early access on Steam. This newest trailer shows off gameplay, unlike the one I previously featured. It seems clear that this game will end up on touchscreen devices at some point, but it looks like they are using the idea of "flicking" objects across the screen well to make an RTS in which shield-encased ships bounce off of each other.

Désiré
Windows, Mac, Linux | $TBA | December 2015 | Greenlight

This game looks like it will be a mature and thoughtful point and click adventure game. This new trailer, which shows more of the game's character than the previous one, marks the start of their Greenlight campaign.

Evoland 2
Windows | reg. $20 | Pre-orders available

Evoland is getting a sequel that branches out from RPGs and into other genres of game. It's not out yet, but can be pre-ordered at 20% off the regular price.

Knight & Damsel
Windows | reg. $10 | Available now

From the developer: "Knight & Damsel is a two-player "uncooperative" multiplayer game set on a papercraft stage that subverts the age-old tale of knights saving damsels, with the knight and damsel competing to rescue the other! In Knight & Damsel, players attempt to delay their opponent so their chosen hero can receive the most glory by getting the furthest through the stage." It's currently 20% off for its launch.

The Mooseman
Windows, Mac, Linux | $TBA | Sometime 2016 | Demo (Windows)

From the developer: "The mechanics are simple: all the levels have two sides - one that exists in the human world and one that exists in a spirit world. They are separated, but interact in some way or another. The Mooseman has the ability to traverse across both worlds."

Viridi
Windows, Mac, Linux; soon Andoid, iOS | Free (IAP) | Available now

This is kinda like Mountain in that it's a leave it going in the background kinda thing, but it's more interactive. You choose a pot and a set of starter plants, which you water periodically and watch grow. They can be moved and rearranged. If you want, you can buy more seedlings for truly tiny microtransaction costs such as $0.09 and $0.19, or you can take whatever random one you get each week. The soundtrack is also for sale, and it is lovely.
