Claire is out to meet her aunt who lives and works in a park. That doesn’t mean there isn’t time to take a relaxing flight, walk and talk with friends, or stare into the quiet waters along the way.
A Short Hike will have you guiding Claire through the wilderness as she tries to take her mind off some things. Luckily, there’s a lot you can get up to if you want to help distract the poor bird. You can climb cliffs and leap off, taking a quick flight around the treetops or tumble into the cool waters of a lake below. You can also dig out a fishing rod and see what you can catch within the blue pools, or just let the sound of the lapping waves wash your thoughts away.
You’re not purely working with natural distractions. This park is filled with different people you can meet and have a quick talk with. Some of them have their own issues they wouldn’t mind sharing with a stranger, and maybe helping them out might soothe your own mind. Or they might help guide you to some of the hidden treasures that are lying around the park awaiting discovery.
This new release of A Short Hike (which was a Humble Original a while ago) adds some new mechanics and treats for new players. Fishing has been added to this version, and you can also expect to meet a few new characters as you wander some newly-refined areas of the park. Whether the grounds are familiar or not, there’s still lots of new things to discover as you help a bird forget their problems for a little while.
A Short Hike is available now on Itch.io and Steam.
