Your main goal is to settle and grow in the Old West, but that is not so simple in a world filled with danger. You will have to be mindful of the climate you settle down in. Desert? Stock up on water – you’ll need it. Winter-scape? Fire wood, fire wood, fire wood. This is before even touching on gathering resources for food. So, think very carefully about where to settle and what resources you’ll need to prioritize to be successful. You’ll want to take into account that your colony may have preferred diets, too, and if you don’t keep up with their wants, they may just start a life of crime.
Once you’ve conquered the inner colony issues, it’s time to think about the world outside of it. Bears and wolves are part of these areas as well, and if they feel threatened, they’ll likely make short work of your ill-equipped colonists. On top of this natural enemy, you’ll have bandits in their own camps that could make off with some invaluable resources – or raid your entire colony. It’s the Wild West, after all.
If you’re starting to feel nervous about outside dangers, perhaps you’ll want to look to the Native Americans to forge some friendships. You can establish a trade deal and have a mutually beneficial relationship that boosts your economy if you play things out right. And you could likely use some friends during this challenging period, right?
