Halloween party ideas 2015

Inspired by Earthbound and Undertale, Roji’s Room lets you explore your dreams and interact with those living within them. It’s your choice if you want to fight or connect.

Roji’s Room is built around the idea of lucid dreaming and everything that comes with it. Perhaps even a loss of control, as there is a mention of sleep paralysis. What is a good wholesome game without a darker twist hiding beneath, right?

In this short, but memorable, teaser, you will watch as the protagonist drifts off to sleep while watching TV, ending up on the show that’s playing as they drift off. A talent that I’m sure a lot of us wish we could possess. You’ll be playing as a lion traveling with his fox companion, but then you’ll encounter some bandits. You’ve been given strict orders by the King not to show empathy to them as well. If you choose to follow this, you’ll only be using the attack and evade functions, probably. The actions follow a similar scheme to Undertale where timing is very important. Dodging requires you to use your arrow keys in a certain pattern within a quick time frame – so if you’re fast and accurate, you’ll be okay! One missed button, though, and you’re hit.

If you’re a little softer around the edges and prefer a happier scenario, you can choose to connect with your foe and learn what makes them do what they do. To use it properly, you’ll have to use focus as well to boost your imagination points (IMG). You may even discover a new connect command (which uses IMG points, so keep that in mind).

Two routes are offered in the teaser, and you can probably easily figure out how to get each one. Be careful, though, because this game definitely has some meta elements and you never know how much it is listening. It even knew my name because of something on my PC (which is slightly terrifying, but exciting at the same time?!). If you loved Undertale and wanted to strike up a journey with new friends and a new scenario, keep an eye on Roji’s Room.

Roji’s Room has a teaser demo available on itch.io.
