Halloween party ideas 2015

If you want an RPG with a little dash of street thugs, a giant whopping arsenal full of guns, and some smooth hip-hop beats, Orangeblood is your next destination.

As we discover in this IGP First Look, this isn’t your grandma’s RPG. Unless your grandma was a chain-smoking, gun-slinging, gambling machine. Then it is very much your grandma’s RPG. You may find this off-the-beaten track, hip-hop inspired RPG to be a breath of fresh air. Well, as fresh as it can be with all the smoking your main character will be doing; both metaphorically and literally. You’ll be in charge of this hot-headed and foul-mouthed sharp shooter, Vanilla. She looks about as innocent as an RPG character, but no, the minute she opens her mouth, you will find a completely terrifying and intriguing persona revealed to you. And she’s not the only one bending all the rules. You’ll encounter 3 other girls who have no time for being sweet and delicate flowers. They know what they want and they will get it, one way or another.

Using turn-based combat, you will use your characters’ carefully chosen weaponry to sling devastating attacks, be they guns or swords or hot beats (that buff the party). Watch your ammo though. If you run out, you’ll automatically reload and leave yourself unable to dodge enemy attacks; these can sting if you’re not well equipped. You’ll have to use a combination of regular attacks and skills to make sure you don’t give your enemies the opportunity to snuff out your flame before you’ve had a chance to enjoy the finer things New Koza has to offer. Like sun bathing with your homies, or gambling. It’s not all about cracking skulls, but it helps to keep your bank account high.

Playing Orangeblood was like being drawn in with a siren songs of hip-hop and exquisite pixel-art, on top of characters I couldn’t help but find enticing. Especially their little quips in battle. It’s hard not to find these outcasts endearing in their unlikely camaraderie. It’s a nice bonus that you can bond with them by just relaxing and appreciating the detailed environments. And what better way to chill than by doing it with your best buds with some gentle vibes soothing the air?

Orangeblood is available now on Steam.
