Halloween party ideas 2015

We aim to blast a moon’s worth of wriggling flesh and errant reproductive organs in this week’s IGP First Look at A Robot Named Fight!. Which isn’t as gross as it sounds. But it’s still kinda gross.

The robots were having a pretty swell few millennia of peace, but then came a moon-sized pile of fleshy goo filled with teeth and naughty bits. I’m totally serious. Luckily, I didn’t have to tangle with too many errant genitals throughout my adventure, but ended up blasting more than my fair share of wet, wiggly, sloppy things. The whole world quivers in a stomach-churning way (although not so bad that it will likely make too many people queasy).

If you dug Super Metroid to any degree, this will feel familiar and enjoyable. Combat and exploration feel very similar to the title, offering many cosmic nooks and crannies to fight and meander through. Enemies come with a fair amount of gross variety, giving you many different bloody things to shoot. There’s also a pile of different power-ups and weapons to be found, encouraging you to explore to better arm yourself against the horrors ahead.

That the game gives you a different route each time adds a lot more to the exploration as well. While I enjoy always knowing my way through a familiar game, the array of different sickening places the game can takes you to means it’s always a new journey with different stuff to find. That and its more horror-themed monsters make for a chilling battle against an unsettling alien invasion, one that’s well worth checking out from what we’ve played so far.

A Robot Named Fight! is available now on the Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Screaming for London is one of those games that touches on art, taking a modern, everyday item (an old pay phone, in this case) and turns it into a really interesting concept.

Which then becomes a physical item that’s displayed at some showcases, if you’re lucky enough to find it.

Inspired by the various telephones that are dotted around London, Screaming for London takes this out-of-date payphone and turns it into something that everyone would probably need to use in the modern day.

Screaming for London

Instead, this installation puts a screaming phone in these booths; an area for you to pick up the phone, scream and then get your scream rated. The idea is that the government has put these phones all throughout the city so that people can scream out their emotions. The telephone gives you some numbers to play through, categorizing your scream; work, love life, education, and social media are all categories that you can scream about. Once you have logged your scream, you can then hang up the phone and go about your day.

There is something about designing a system that allows you to scream, be rated, and then go back to your regular life that perfectly encapsulates most daily lives. The developer also made posters, much like the ones you see by the Mayor of London in London, for this screaming machine. I got the chance to scream myself while the game was displayed at Games Library Night.

Screaming for London doesn’t have a website, but you can follow the developer, Rachel Clancy, on Twitter and Instagram.

Time moves at a third of the speed when Berry the Scientist quaffs their latest potion. However, there’s more than a few people out there to stop them in their tracks.

Berry The Scientist is a follow-up to the fun (if tough) Terry The Skeleton from Ahmed Khalifa (Amidos). The first game was a Proc Jam entry from last year, with the heart of the game being that the player moved in real-time while enemies moved in a turn-based manner. They were vicious, though – much more so than in the newer game. Something does persist between the two games, though – both our scientist and skeleton protagonist’s hunter. Both of them are being hunted down by a/the church.

That’s just story, mind – a story which rears its head to introduce every new enemy type sent after you. That ranges from archers to mages (mages?) to mercenaries. Each enemy attacks in a different way, from swiping everybody in an adjacent spot, teleporting and leaving ice behind them, or blasting a zone with magic.

You’ve got three lives, but most importantly, you have the speed that I mentioned in the opening sentence. You can make three moves before the enemy does their attack. There is something else though, something that, similarly, both Terry and Berry have in common. They can either move in single steps or in full dashes until they hit an object. In the case of Berry The Scientist, this means that you can use your first move to dash to a wall, second to wipe out an enemy, and third to jet away. It becomes a bit like a dance – much more than the rapid splattering of movements in the real-vs-turn-based first game.

Berry The Scientist is playable now on itch.io.

Arrog does exactly this, taking the concept idea of death and bringing it into a surreal world of storytelling and tradition.

Taking the idea of death and how other cultures interpret and celebrate it can make for a captivating game. Taking place in the point of view of a man accepting his death through dreams, Arrog follows what is going on around you, slowly becoming an abstract adventure of trying to understand. Through bizarre puzzles, scenes in the sky, and creatures who want to help you, you will experience death. Death isn’t painful or gory in the game, instead showing you how others react to your death, the rituals around a life’s end, and the strange world you could find yourself in.

Arrog

Puzzles come in a classic sense in Arrog, with some where you need to spin around a puzzle so that an image fits together correctly, others where you need to light candles as fast as possible, or ones where you need to pick the right graphic to complete a picture. None of these little puzzles actually have any sort of instructions, instead just presenting you with the screen and allowing you to work it out on your own.

Following Arrog feels important and captivating. Every detail on the black and white world (with a touch of color) feels deliberate. It’s one of those interesting games that you can’t quite pull away from. I got to play a bit of Arrog at the Fun and Serious Festival and really felt drawn into whatever was happening, interpreting the world as my own.

Arrog is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its creation on Twitter.

You’ve been kidnapped by cultists who insist you have some poisonous potato salad with them. But you’ve got no intention of dying today.

Last Meal sits you down at the table with a few semi-attentive cultists who want to have you join them in their lethal dinner. As you rather prefer being alive, you’ll have to ditch your meal somewhere nearby when the cultists aren’t looking, as they tend to get upset at someone wasting perfectly good poison. They also don’t want you getting up from your spot, so you’ll need to put together a solution from your seat.

There are a few objects lying around close to you, and you’ll need to grab them and use them in crafty ways to get the cultists to stop paying attention to you. Will that sleepy dog help you out? Would some tv keep the cultists from peeking your way long enough to ditch the food? Could you pour your potato salad into that nearby houseplant in order to get rid of it? You have to really make use of everything around you to clean your plate without dying.

Last Meal manages a very particular dance with its play style, mashing a ridiculous premise with a sinister premise. It’s funny to be working so hard to ditch potato salad, but there’s something undeniably frightening when all of those vacant-eyed cultists start looking your way. It’s a wonderful mixture of chilling and silly, which is a rare thing to pull off.

Last Meal is available now on itch.io.

You wake up on a striking beach with no memory and only mysterious messages floating around telling you about a traveler.

Unsure who you are yourself, you must sail around and find more of these messages in Forgotten Sea.

Forgotten Sea is a stunning adventure game where you play as a young adult navigating the open water. The seas are dotted with islands you can explore in hopes of figuring out what happened to both you and the traveler that’s been sending out bottled messages. This world isn’t exactly normal, either, as there are portals that you also need to travel through. These portals take you to different times and seasons, giving you a new place to explore.

I got to play a bit of Forgotten Sea at GAMAYO this year and I really enjoyed the look and feel of the game. Despite there being a set story, the world is quite open, meaning you can spend some time just sailing around, enjoying the detail and look of the visuals. Not only are you a lost sailor, but you are also looking for someone else who has been forgotten out on the sea.

Forgotten Sea aims to work like a book, with you slowly discovering the story and reflecting on what is going on, touching on the balance of life, adventure, home, and family. This game is something completely different for the development team BetaJester, which is really refreshing to see, as I feel this might just be their best game yet.

Forgotten Sea is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its creation on the game’s site.

Vestaria Saga I: War of the Scions needs you to be very, very careful about your unit positions and attack plans, or else you’re going to really muck things up for the royal family.

You’re the prince of a small coastal kingdom – one that has just had an imperial ship set ablaze in its harbor. This, naturally, doesn’t go over very well with the imperials, and sets off a chain of nasty events that will see you on the run and trying your best to keep the royal family safe. Plus, someone definitely set you all up, so you have that to worry about as well. All while trying to learn military tactics on the fly.

Drawing inspiration from the Fire Emblem series, the game puts you in grid-based combat against a variety of unit types and military groups, tasking you with being very careful about your own unit choices, attacks, and equipment. All kinds of factors go into how well your unit will work against a certain enemy one, so you’ll want to weigh each decision for a bit before you choose your offense and defense. There’s not many allies out there for our poor prince, and having them die (permanently) from your screw-ups will make it hard for your family to survive for long.

Not that the game is entirely unforgiving. You’re able to save every five turns during a melee, so if things are going well, you can keep a bit of your progress. Losing also doesn’t mean completely starting the fight over, which is a great touch. There’s also two different difficulty modes if you want something ruthless (or not), allowing for some nice variety in the game’s first chapter.

Vestaria Saga I: War of the Scions is available now on Steam.

Divination has always been a dividing force between believers and skeptics. Is it truly possible to divine one’s future, or is the future malleable, shaped by our actions in the present?

CONTENT WARNING – Self harm, suicide

In DIVINATION, Mojiken Studio‘s Bluilisht explores whether it is truly possible to see the future, or perhaps it has been set in stone for us. You play as a pair of hands belonging to the ‘Diviner’, an unseen entity whose ability to foresee the future is unparalleled.

Four different individuals, each living in a dystopian society where humans and sentient machines coexist, come to you for various reasons. You read their runes by placing them into slots that project their fate to them. Through this, you will divine their fate and watch as their futures take shape. But beware: you cannot change what becomes of them. Only who they are.

Without giving away too much of the game’s story, the subject matter is as dark as it is riveting. With neo-noir visuals and futuristic sounds, you are drawn in to the stories that each individual tells you. Then, you will provide them with your divination by ways of runes they select from a bowl beside them. I found myself gripped by the grim storyline that painted what a fractured society would do.

It was said that:

He with body waged a fight,
But body won; it walks upright.

Then he struggled with the heart;
Innocence and peace depart.

Then he struggled with the mind;
His proud heart he left behind.

Now his wars on God begin;
At stroke of midnight God shall win.

All I can say is that ignorance is bliss and perhaps we really can divine the future. Would you?

DIVINATION is available now on itch.io and Steam.

Squishy Sports is currently the best multiplayer sports game I have ever played, and I don’t really like sports games. Their characters bring so much personality to the simplistic rounds of various games.

Squishy Sports is a physics-based couch co-op party game where you get to play some simple versions of sports that mainly just involve hitting a ball back and forth to the different sides of the screen. I’ve played a lot of different sports games that use these themes, but none of them have ever added the amount of personality that the developers, Made by Titans, have here.

Squishy Sports

For characters, you get to pick from a bunch of different, super colorful shapes. These shapes all have their own silly taunts, wonderful animations, and somehow, relatable personalities. Squishy Sports is a great example of a ‘juicy’ game, from the animations on these characters to the large explosions of colorful confetti that appear when you have scored a point. When picking these characters, you can also select an ability (I quite like the dash, personally) that charges up and can be used in matches.

Once everyone has picked their shapes, you can pick which game mode you want to play. In the version I got to play at GAMAYO, I enjoyed playing basketball, soccer, and volleyball, but my favorite game mode was the table tennis version of the game. In it, you really just had a massive object in the way, so you couldn’t really get close to the ball (it had nothing to do with the rules of table tennis to tell you the truth, which made it so much better).

Squishy Sports is one of those straightforward games that are just so polished, there is no way you can not enjoy it. All of the rounds are easy to understand, pick up, and play. I hope to see this game come to Nintendo Switch, personally.

Squishy Sports is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its creation on the game’s site

Latheefa berkata terdapat 9 rakaman percakapan melibatkan 8 individu.

‘Kita cuba selamatkan nyawa’

Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia (WHO) menganggarkan seramai 20,000 lelaki dewasa di Malaysia meninggal saban tahun akibat penyakit berkaitan amalan merokok lapor MalaysiaKini
