A vacation is SUPPOSED to relax you. Maybe it still will if you play your cards right throughout Air Marty. But with angry wrestlers, crab men, and thieves around, it probably won’t.
CONTENT WARNING – Suicide
Air Marty joins someone who is just trying to take a soothing trip, which is next to impossible with all of the mayhem that’s coming his way. This chaos plays out in a bunch of minigames that draw from various game genres, having you flying away from dragons, dodging bullets on the streets, or just trying to get off you plane quickly.
All of these minigames lead into different paths through the game’s story, taking you to one of the game’s sixty-four endings. Sometimes things work out for you, sometimes something absurd happens, and sometimes you’ll find you were probably far better off staying at home. Even if things go badly, though, each playthrough of the game only takes a few minutes. May as well hop in and take another trip.
Air Marty, while infinitely less whimsical than Air Bud (I have no idea why I’m making this comparison), still distills the potential miseries and mayhem of a vacation into some wacky minigames for you to enjoy over the course of a few minutes. At least if you’re on a bad vacation in this game, it’s really easy to speed your way through it. And there’s no time spent at the airport. So it’s already better than a lot of trips I’ve taken.
Air Marty is available now on Steam.
