Halloween party ideas 2015

flamingo.pngThis was one of those weeks for which choosing trailers for the roundup made me want to pull my hair out because there were too many good ones to choose from. The ones I've chosen range from zany to dramatic and cover a lot of gameplay ground. And I couldn't quite narrow it down to ten... so have eleven.

ClusterPuck 99

Windows, Mac, Linux | $9.99 | Available now

This is a multiplayer sports game. Getting the ball into the enemy goal is the point of the game, but some of the wide array of differently shaped fields have what look like pinball bumpers and it seems you can fall off of some of them. ClusterPuck 99 has won a few accolades, including being selected for IndieCade 2015's eSports showcase. The trailer indicates that the game is for Windows and Mac only, but the game's Steam page says Linux is an option, too.

The Deer God

Windows, Mac, Linux | $9.99 | Early access

This is The Deer God's second time in a trailer roundup. At that time, it was a Kickstarter project. Now it's in early access and just got a huge update that added co-op multiplayer to the game.

Drive Any Track

Windows | $TBA | Early 2015 | Greenlight

The word "track" in the title of this game refers not only to racing tracks, but also to music tracks. The race courses are to be procedurally generated from the players' chosen music and players will need to race to the beat.

Flamingo!

Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android | $TBA | Release TBA

This one looks like it's going to be a strategy game that is deep in its simplicity. Players take turns placing bandits to attack buildings and opposing bandits, building an epic Mexican standoff together and then seeing who is still standing once the shots are fired. It has already been Greenlit.

Frozen Cortex

Windows, Mac, Linux | $24.99 | Early access now, full release soon

Previously known as Frozen Endzone, Frozen Cortex is the spiritual successor to Frozen Synapse. It's a simultaneous turn-based tactical game and it looks like team sports is the perfect setting for the gameplay. Give it a look. Mode 7 anticipates that the game will release later this month.

The Guilt and the Shadow

Windows | $TBA | Releases today

From the developer (who uses no capital letters): "the guilt and the shadow is a 'short story exploration game' about the past, death, illness and the thin line between life and insanity. a game inspired by the old point and click games mixed with 2d puzzle platform gameplay."

Hyperemesis Pizza

iOS | $1.99 | Available now

This one is a crazy-looking pizza tycoon game. There's also a deluxe edition of the game which comes with buttons, a sticker, and the soundtrack on cassette tape for $6.

The Incredible Baron

Windows 8, iOS, Android | $5+ | Kickstarter | Demo

The developers are calling The Incredible Baron a "reverse tower defense" game. Customize creatures and tech trees to build up waves and destroy the enemy base before they get yours.

Odd Bot Out

iOS, Android | $1.99 | Available now

This one is a physics-based, gadget-building puzzle platformer.

VIGIL

Windows | $TBA | Kickstarter Soon

From the developer: "VIGIL is a 1st person sci-fi thriller, with an emphasis on atmosphere, narrative, exploration and stealth."

You Don't Know the Half of It: Fins of the Father

Windows | Free | Available now

From the developer: "Remember the episode of South Park where Kanye thinks he's a gay fish? Imagine if that episode had a baby with KEYBOARD DRUMSET FUCKING WEREWOLF and Bound 2. And then that baby developed a bad obsession with Cruis'n World and Drum and Bass. That's what You Don't Know the Half of It: Fins of the Father is."
