I do tend to enjoy books covering all aspects of gaming and though I've read my fair share of books on classic games, game design, game theory and even the politics of gaming, I am pretty certain that Independent By Design will be something entirely different. Provided it reaches its funding goal, that is.
Independent By Design, you see, is trying to capture the experience and history of over twenty indie developers in 240 pages filled with --hopefully-- well researched words and excellently presented artwork. It will attempt to provide us with a glimpse at the history of studios such as Croteam, Subset Games, Failbetter Games and Vlambeer, and individual developers like Lucas Pope or Chris Hecker.
To help the book come to fruition, you can back it over at Kickstarter, where a pledge of 25 pounds will secure you a copy of the book.
