Not many people remember futuristic, isometric 16-bit shooter Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters, but I do. Fondly so, and was glad to detect a hint of it buried deep inside the soul of brilliant and just released rogue-like arena shooter/puncher Kill to Collect. It must have been the vibrant colours and imaginative enemies that triggered the memories I suppose, for Kill to Collect --despite its '80s aesthetic and retro sci-fi sensibilities-- is a very modern action game. It looks lovely in its 3D cartoon visuals, feels lovingly polished, has been filled with options, supports online co-op multiplayer, its procedural elements have been very cleverly designed and offers a most engrossing single player experience.
