Halloween party ideas 2015

Just last month, Particle Fleet reminded us of the thrill of facing an seemingly unstoppable force, that could adapt and overwhelm and outmanuever with ease. But as satisfying as it is to overcome such an enemy, it may be even more satisfying to control the horde itself. Drone Swarm will give you that power, placing the ability to wield the fearsome might of tens of thousands of drones at your fingertips. Alone, a drone is barely a threat, but together, even the most powerful armadas will fall.

Wielding unearthed alien technology, your Harbinger mothership spawns a massive swarm, thousands of individual ships able to be controlled simultaneously. This alone is an impressive feat, with each swarm member interacting with each other and other objects in space, moving in unison like an interstellar baitball. Destruction by a thousand cuts is always a viable tactic, but your swarm is an incredibly versatile weapon, able to attack in a single huge strike or be divided into smaller subswarms that can attack faster but deal less damage.

Speed may be advantageous if you need to overwhelm an enemy fleet with staggered EMP bursts, or slice through several engines at once. The swarm can attack in myriad forms, from a dense cannonball that can send ships tumbling into their allies to a wall that can protect your mothership and reflect lasers. A dash acts as both a means of evasion and a precise saber stab that can destroy individual weapons, while the sawblade formation can tear through a capital ship.

Developer Stillalive Studios promises even more swarm tactics, such as disintegrating entire ships or throwing asteroids at an frigate. Beyond the distinct battle maps, your mothership will travel the galaxy, meeting other empires, making allies, and researching new upgrades and abilities for the swarm. You'll also need to consider your advisors aboard the mothership, who have their own goals and opinions that might conflict with your acts of diplomacy or aggression.

Drone Swarm will be releasing on PC and Mac. For more details, GIFs, and a developer walkthrough, you can visit the game's site, Twitter, and Youtube page.
