Another week, another round of trailers. This time, we have procedural mummies, one-minute-adventuring, really bad novels, and educational adventuring on wretched islands.
Immortal Redneck
Windows, OSX, Linux, PS4, Xbox One | $TBA | 2017 | Greenlight
This Egyptian-themed FPS with rogue-like elements reminds me a lot of Ziggurat and Serious Sam. It features an impressive array of weird weaponry and has cute procedural mummies to boot. "Procedural whatnot?" Exactly.
Odyssey
Windows, OSX | $TBA | February 23, 2017
From developer The Young Socratics: "Odyssey is a science puzzle adventure game focused on scientific reasoning and argumentation in astronomy and mechanics from the ancient Greeks to Newton. The game blends the history of science with an immersive journey across the exotic yet dangerous Wretched Islands to rescue Kai, a 13-year old girl, and her family."
The Videokid
Windows | $2.99 | Available now
Skate, hitch and grind your way through hazardous streets while delivering pirate video tapes and dodging a whole bunch of 80s references. This Paperboy-inspired arcade game is all about nostalgia.
Dystoria
Windows | $14.99 | February 21, 2017
More nostalgia! From developer Tri-Coastal Games: "Dystoria has been inspired by 80s movies and games along with titles like Tron, Descent, Star Wars, Super Mario Galaxy. Your ship hovers along any surface in any direction. As the player navigates each sector they may find that what seems like a simple navigation can be quite complex as their orientation changes with every turn."
2Dark
Windows, PS4, XB1 | $TBA | 2017
From developer Gloomywood Games: "From Frédérick Raynal, the creator of Alone in the Dark and pioneer of survival-horror, 2Dark is a grim journey of stealth and courage into the heart of corruption. Plagued by a string of child abductions, darkness hangs over the once-picturesque city of Gloomywood like a curse. Having seen his own wife slain and children taken, former detective Mr. Smith vows to find justice and bring an end to the misery."
Azure Saga: Pathfinder
Windows, OSX, iOS | $TBA | Release TBA | Greenlight
From developer MassHive Media: "Azure Saga: Pathfinder is a unique story driven Tactical Turn-Based RPG with a mixture of sci-fi and medieval fantasy theme. Combine character skills with each other in various different combos, creating a unique effects and animation depending on who the player has paired up."
Minit
Windows ("and maybe console") | $TBA | mid 2017
From developers Kitty Calis and Jan Willem Nijman: "Minit is a peculiar little adventure played sixty seconds at a time. Journey outside the comfort of your home to help unusual folk, uncover countless secrets, and overcome dangerous foes, all in hopes of lifting a rather unfortunate curse that ends each day after just one minute."
Legrand Legacy
Windows | 15£ | September 2017 | Kickstarter
Second time's the charm for this Indonesian RPG. Legrand Legacy has an intriguing art style and interesting combat mechanics. There is a sizeable demo for you to try before the crowdfunding campaign comes to a close.
Bucket Detective
Windows, OSX | $3.99 | February 16, 2017
From developer The Whale Husband: "A dark comedy/horror game in which you help a cult complete a strange ritual in exchange for divine inspiration to finish writing your terrible novel. A mostly linear experience, but the choices you make determine which of the five unique endings you receive."
Aqua Kitty UDX
Xbox One | $TBA | February 3, 2017
Returning to the XBox with an enhanced version of the enhanced version of their cat-themed like-Defender-but-underwater shooter Aqua Kitty, developer Tikipod added an all new game mode and lots of other enhancements, big and small. This is not going to be a milk run.
