Halloween party ideas 2015

In A Fold Apart, you’ll be folding the world in hopes of getting through each page of it, and all while getting through the challenges of a long-distance relationship.

Following a love story between two individuals who have been separated by distance, work, and time zones, you’ll need to help this couple spend time together and understand their emotional boundaries. The idea behind A Fold Apart is that two people, Alex and Sam, are communicating through text messages where miscommunication often happens. The platforms and words that are being manipulated represent their relationship, and you’ll need to figure out how to safely navigate it.

In the demo of A Fold Apart that I played at Casual Connect, the blue character fell asleep and dreamt about their other half. In this dream, their partner could fly, asking the character I was playing to move forward and follow. I was slower, almost more clumsy with my inability to fly, but soo,n I got to places where the platform ended or the paper needed to be folded to continue on.

The world is made up of pages, each with a front and back, allowing you to turn it over and view the other side or pull at a corner until it’s folded in a way that a platform is complete. You can even walk a bit, freeze part of the paper, and then continue moving the rest. This mechanic within A Fold Apart is very well done, feeling quite natural in the way of progression. The cute story and the bright, cheery visuals really pull the game together into a great little playthrough.

A Fold Apart is coming soon to PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PS4. You can sign up for the developer’s newsletter on their website.
