Halloween party ideas 2015

Dreadborne Drifters has you running and gunning and shooting and looting in bite-sized, randomized levels.

Often clocking in at no more than two or three minutes, these short and sweet massacres hit the spot. And someone’s getting massacred, alright. Win or lose, it’s over before you know it, and at the end of it all is either some kind of reward or a quick restart. And again, and again, in a never-ending, super-tight gameplay loop.

This is not just an action game, mind you. You level up a whole bunch and gain useful equipment. Guns, gear, grenades… the works. New equipment can be crafted with blueprints scattered around the levels, and there are different character classes, customizable equipment, and other good things to make a tinkerer’s heart sing. If you like to see numbers go up, this game is for you.

Dreadborne Drifters looks rough, but in a good way. Explosions shake the levels, gibs fly around, bullets and laser fire everywhere. It surely fits the game’s screwball pacing. It’s an Early Access title that’s currently lacking a real endgame. However, with its more than fair price and tantalizing promises of over-the-top cartoon violence, that’s not needed (yet). Making things go boom is a good start!

Dreadborne Drifters is available now on Steam Early Access. You can also grab a demo on Itch.io.
