Pico Pico Love Touch tests how well you and your partner can communicate or feel out a situation without words, hitting buttons without tripping over one another.
It’s a pretty straightforward setup, offering you nine different buttons you can touch. Four of these will light up at a time, and two players must lay their hands on all of the buttons to pass to the next round. This happens in a hurry, so you’ll need to be quick.
The tricky part of this is that you aren’t given enough time to mess around telling the other player which buttons you intend to push. Sometimes the buttons will light up in natural pairs, but often, they’ll be in awkward positions and you and your partner will simply have to know where you want to place your hands. So, you soon find yourself wordlessly communicating with your partner about where you’ll go, feeling each other out and finding the spot you can both place your hands.
So, while Pico Pico Love Touch sounds deceptively simple on the surface, there is actually a complex interpersonal game going on between you and the other player. You need to learn each other’s cues and body language if you’re going to make it very far. It teaches you about your connection with the person you’re playing with, offering a lovely game to share with someone you care about.
Just don’t expect to beat mine and my brother’s score. We are a synchronous unit that cannot be defeated, if the game is to be believed.
