Sometimes, all it takes is bashing a block into a monster to destroy it. No guns, no direct shots, just hoping that your block will hit them before they move beyond the area.
Pushy and Pully in Blockland sees you pushing these blocks around.
In Pushy and Pully in Blockland, you can play single player or two player to destroy screens filled with monsters. You’ll do this by pushing massive blocks around the screen. If these blocks collide with a monster, the monster will die. If the blocks end up in a line of three matching blocks, you’ll gain a power-up to help you continue forward.
These powerups come in the form of bombs that can be moved and pushed, gems that can be collected for more points, and green stars which can be joined together. I had limited time to play the game at Casual Connect and did not actually get the green stars to match up, as they were pretty far away from each other. If blocks are in your way, as they sometimes are, you can push on them to break them, but they only break if they are unable to move.
Pushy and Pully in Blockland has some retro vibes to it, as well as a very colorful and bright look. The monsters are pretty charming and cute instead of scary. There is a variety of monsters from rolling wheels that speed towards you to green aliens that wander around hoping to bump into you. There are even boss fights that require being hit several times before they die.
Pushy and Pully in Blockland is set to release in 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. The game itself is in private beta, which you can join by getting onto their Discord. You can also sign up for the developer’s newsletter.
