You could argue that angry AIs are a tired trope and probably be met with minimal disagreement. There's nothing new about being trapped in an abandoned space station, or ship, or lab, with a sentient computer who has plans of its own.
So why does Event[0], an upcoming game about exactly that, sound so cool?
Unlike most other games that have gone this route, Event[0] seems to revolve most strongly around that relationship between human and machine. You play as someone who, following some kind of accident, has found themselves lost on the abandoned space ship that their escape pod docked to. The only other presence on the ship, it seems, is an AI wired into the ship's computers.
You can speak with the AI using terminals around the ship, typing out your own words rather than choosing from menus or dialogue trees. Have a friendly chat about the nature of the ship, or use the computer's authority to open up doors and other things.
Just... don't always expect cooperation.
You can watch 14 minutes of gameplay footage on Event[0]'s official website.
The site also features a written prequel, which provides some backstory for the upcoming game. Read that here.
