I've enjoyed spending many hours floating through space and planting seeds on dead planets in Nate Schmold's Cosmochoria. I have no idea why all those aliens up there don't appreciate my efforts to bring color, life, and love to the universe, but I know they'll be especially mad now that the game is out of Early Access and into its full Steam release. Armed with a ray gun, a helmet, and oftentimes nothing else, I intend to pilot my adorable little nudist to the stars and fill them with beautiful plants whether the locals like it or not. What do they have against flowers and naked dudes, anyway?
You can clothe the poor man as you battle for beauty in space. Shooting anyone who's interrupting your galactic gardening will make them 'poop' crystals (which is kind of horrifying in a way) that will let you buy new upgrades for your little nudist cosmonaut. These will help you out on your next run, as death is permanent in Cosmochoria, but the upgrades you buy between plays are forever. They'll go a long way as you play for long periods, too, as bigger, tougher aliens are coming, and they all can't stand your plants. It's to the point where I'm starting to wonder what the little fella is burying on those gray planets before he jets off to another one.
The galaxy changes with each playthrough, being procedurally-generated for you to fly through on your jetpack. It's strangely relaxing to fill this gray and black galaxy with color despite the alien beams perforating your pale, bare flesh, and now you can savor the full sensation of the void of space on your skin with the full retail release. Just try not to get any blood or alien poop in the flower beds while you're at it.
Cosmochoria is available for $9.99 on Steam (%50 off for its launch week). For more information on it and developer Nate Schmold, you can head to the game's site or follow them on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
