Halloween party ideas 2015

Sci-Fi shooter Warside is looking ahead towards a release date on which to launch their game into Early Access. The game has players creating and customizing their own soldier and participating in multiplayer battles. It is planned to be in Early Access for no more than two or three months before releasing the final version to Steam. After recently getting a chance to play Warside, I feel that I am prepared to offer some initial impressions on the game.

Warside begins by dropping you straight into character creation, allowing you to choose from one of four character
types. Some of the choices offered include the Huntress, who seemed to specialize in dealing ranged damage, and the Guardian, who was a tank of sorts. I, however, went with the Faceless, as they seemed to be more focused on stealth gameplay, which I find most enjoyable in games. After choosing your character type, you are asked to choose one of four classes, which are just about as standard as it could get. Basically, you had your tank, damage dealer, healer, and stealth character. These choices affect not only your weaponry, but your abilities as well.

Unfortunately, there was a strange issue with the game that forced some of the text to appear in Russian, while the rest appeared in English. This meant that a lot of important information was lost to me because it was in a language that I do not speak. On top of this, the tutorials that are supposed to pop up upon entering the game's overworld did not display properly, which meant that I had no direction on where to go, or what my objective was. After messing around for a few minutes, I was able to join a match populated by bots, because there aren't any other players online as far as I can tell, at this time. In Warside, the battles take place in a 2.5D style, meaning that you can go up, down, left, or right.

In terms of its gameplay, Warside pits teams against each other in various battles that feature different objectives. One such match had my team and I attempting to capture and hold control points, much like conquest or domination in other games. Because of my class choice, I had access to a sniper rifle and a shotgun. I found both of these weapons to be quite difficult to manage, as the fire rate was extremely low on both, meaning if you missed a shot, you would be torn to shreds by machine guns and other, quicker weapons. Aiming in Warside is no easy task, with players jumping and jetpacking all throughout the level. This is one of the things that I feel the game does very well, as I found it very entertaining to hop and dodge fire while dishing out some damage of my own.

Warside's RPG elements are another of the game's features that make it quite appealing. After each match, you will be awarded with experience points, as well as some randomized gear drops. You can use your skill points to upgrade skills in one of three categories depending on your class. While there didn't seem to be all that many upgrades to purchase, I feel that it was plenty to keep the game interesting for a fair amount of time. In terms of the equipment, imagine an MMO character screen, where you see your armor slots and your character's appearance. This is exactly how the player's equipment is managed in Warside. You can drag whichever armor or weaponry you would like to use right onto your character, and then you will immediately notice the visual change that the item makes on your character. Much like other RPGs, the items contain different stats, so it is important to decide early where you would like to focus and make sure you are grabbing gear that suits the role you would like to take on.

Post-launch, once the servers populate, I definitely see Warside as a game that will provide a decent amount of entertainment for those of us who enjoy upgrading characters and progression through levels. While the shooting gameplay is definitely not the best I've ever played, it does well enough to provide an experience that is challenging as well as entertaining. Aside from the language and tutorial bugs I experienced, the rest of the game seemed to run without issue, and I quite enjoyed my time obliterating enemy bots and collecting upgrades for my character. Warside is releasing on May 5th onto Steam Early Access.
