Halloween party ideas 2015

bmas02.pngWelcome to another batch of great trailers! This week has aliens, swordplay, streakers, dragons, lies, airships, burly men, river rapids, and other great things.

@mos
iOS | reg. $2 | March 19

Defend Earth from invading aliens. Not an original concept, but they've taken gameplay reminiscent of Space Invaders and put it in a circular arena with a planet to be defended at the center. It will be free for a limited time at launch.

Airship Asunder
Windows | reg. $13 | Available now

From developer Sally Rough: "Captain your mighty airship and expand your steampunk empire, on a quest to save the world from ruin! Bend the flat earth to your will with powerful magic spells, search ancient temples for lost relics, and defeat the evil forces of the vicious Pirate King! With each relentless five-second turn, the land around you slowly crumbles into the abyss. Will you stand against the chaos and reclaim your dying world, or will it be torn asunder?" The game is currently 70% off.

Aurion
Windows | $TBA | April 14, 2016

We've covered Kiro'o's Aurion in the past, but this is the first trailer I've seen from them that goes into the story of the game. It also comes with a solid release date.

Burly Men at Sea
Windows, OS X, iOS | $TBA | Sometime 2016

From developer Brain&Brain: "Set in early 20th-century Scandinavia, Burly Men at Sea is a folktale about a trio of large, bearded fishermen who step away from the ordinary to seek adventure. The game's story branches through discovery in a series of encounters with creatures from folklore. You play as storyteller and wayfinder, shaping the narrative around the characters through interaction with their environment."

Crazy Pixel Streaker
Windows, OS X, Linux, PS4, XB1 | $10 | Steam Early Access March 2

From developer Lubiterum: "Players control a team of stupid streakers abducted by angry aliens and forced to crash the field into the Earthian most popular sport competitions in order to steal the trophies. They will have to survive huge waves of security agents using devastating weapons like watermelon bazooka or Coke & Mentos Grenades. They will get to fight epic bosses and even ride a magical rainbow pig!" PS4 and XB1 versions are slated for Q4 2016.

Dance Magic
Windows | $10 | Available now

Rhythm games are no strangers to the idea of trying to outdo an opponent. Most of them don't take after fighting games, though.

The Flame in the Flood
Windows, OS X, XB1 | $20 | Today

From developer The Molasses Flood: "The Flame in the Flood is a rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten, post-societal America. Forage, craft, evade predators, and stay ahead of the rains as you make your way down the procedurally-generated river."

LiEat
Windows | $3 | February 26

Pronounced lie-eat, this is a Japanese-made trilogy of RPGs about a dragon who eats lies.

REDDER
Windows, OS X | $10 | Available now

From developer Anna Anthropy: "REDDER is an open-world game with 180 screens in nine areas to explore. First released as a web game in 2010, it was doing things indie games just weren't doing yet. This new desktop version can store up to three simultaneous save files." She also cautions that the game has strobing effects.

The Swords
iOS (future: Android) | $3 | Available now

The newest game from developer Sunhead Games (A Ride Into the Mountains) was one of my favorite games at Tokyo Game Show this year. They've done a great job of capturing the feel of fantastical swordplay in a series of touchscreen minigames.
