Halloween party ideas 2015

cots.gifToday's trailer roundup has only one game that's out, with three more due out in the next few weeks. Although a lot of these are a long way out, I hope you'll agree that there's a lot to look forward to here.

Arcadian Atlas
Windows, OS X, iOS | $TBA | Release TBA | Kickstarter (April 5)

This trailer has gotten my hopes up for an experience like that of the original Final Fantasy Tactics.

City of the Shroud
Windows, OS X | $20+ | August 2016 | Kickstarter | Demo

This is to be a grid-based tactical game with fighting-game style button combos for attacks. I've played an early prototype of this and enjoyed it; it looks like their current demo has come a good way in terms of polish. More interesting to me is that they intend to incorporate players into the writing of the story by having overall faction strength guide it. It reminds me of how major Legend of the Five Rings tournament outcomes affect the story of that universe.

Commander Kamala
Windows, OS X | $TBA | Late 2016 | Greenlight

I hesitate to call this a shoot 'em up, but it's definitely a game about shooting things in space. I like the look of the ship movement and the trailer is quite humorous.

Corporate Lady: Modern Worker 7/10ths: Lord of the Files
Windows, OS X, Linux (beta) | $2 | Available now

From developer Mojiferous Industries: "A match-3 game with an office theme and a pro-worker/socialist subtext. You begin a job of matching tiles with little guidance or direction, try to advance in your job, get fired, and start the process all over again. It is deliberately poorly-documented, monotonous at times, and nearly impossible to win. (Allegory!)"

Knights and Bikes
Windows, OS X, Linux | £12+ | April 2017 | Kickstarter

This is to be a co-op action adventure game about... well, watch the video. The developers definitely remember what it was like to be kids with big daydreams. Gameplay footage starts at 0:27.

Life in Bunker
Windows, OS X, Linux | reg. $16 | February 25

This one is a base builder about carving out a life underground in the wake of nuclear destruction. Visually, it's reminiscent of Evil Genius. Life in Bunker is available for pre-order from the game's web site.

Need to Know
Windows, OS X, Linux | $9+ | December 2016 | Kickstarter starts today

From developer Monomyth Games: "Need to Know is a mass surveillance sim, set in the shadowy, cutthroat world of an NSA-like agency-- The Department of Liberty. As gamers move up the ranks, unlocking cooler/scarier powers and access, they must decide whether to fight for individual rights or help create an unstoppable police state."

Norna
Windows, iOS | ~$3, varies slightly | March 3

This action puzzler has 120 puzzles... and a creepy vibe.

Obliteracers
Windows; future PS4, XB1 | $TBA | February 23

A party racing game for up to 16 people. It will support smartphones as controllers for the PC version, at least.

Spheres
OSes TBA | $TBA | Sometime 2016

From developer Sense of Place Games: "Spheres is a dynamic game of motion, exploration and discovery. The game is set across a collection of worlds in orbit somewhere between the earth and the moon." Although no platforms have been announced, the preview build they sent us is for Windows.
