I am not much of a FPS aficionado, but I did take notice when Superhot by Superhot first made its flamboyant entrance. It was clever, unique and a prototype that could potentially create a brand new sub-genre and make everyone realize there are still so many things games haven't done yet. Superhot, you see, is the very first FPS that is played in perpetual bullet-time. It's a shooter in which time moves only when you move and could thus effortlessly be described as a Braid-influenced-puzzle-oriented-shooter-with-excellent-aesthetic-choices.
For, prototype aside, the now properly released Superhot has grown to become a game that fully supports and expertly realizes the original idea it was built upon. A pretty brilliant offering with interesting presentation, a most amusing story, tons of polish and an impressive array of challenges and levels to unlock and change the way you approach first person shooting forever.
Superhot by Superhot is out now for Windows, Mac and Linux on Steam, GOG and the Humble Store.
