As promised, here's a second trailer roundup for this week. Today's trailer roundup has throwbacks to the past in different ways amongst a good balance of story and action.
Chronicle of Ruin
Windows, OS X, Linux | $ | Summer 2017 | Kickstarter
From developer Dusty Games: "Imagine a Fire Emblem where you commanded your units in real-time, except your units weren't just individuals, but entire squads drawn from a wide range of classes. You then used them to not only complete objectives and engage in strategic traditional turn-based combat across the stage, but also to explore the world in an up close and personal fashion, same as you would in a classic JRPG."
Hyper Bounce Blast
Windows | $5 | May 27, 2016
This arcade game is a follow up to arcade style game Horizon Shift. The beginning of this trailer is misleading; gameplay starts at about 0:26.
Ice Lakes
Windows, OS X, Linux | reg. $15 | Available now
This one is an ice fishing simulator which supports solo play and both online and LAN multiplayer.
LUNA - The Shadow Dust
Windows, OS X, iOS, Android | £7+ | March 2017 | Kickstarter | Demo
This point and click adventure game is to place emphasis on visual cutscenes for storytelling instead of dialogue.
Pyre
Windows, Mac, Linux, PS4 | $TBA | Sometime 2017
The next offering from Supergiant Games (Bastion, Transistor) is to be an action RPG. They're promising "a distinctive gameplay blend that combines expressive decision making on the world map with fast, action-packed confrontations against rival groups of exiles whose own freedom is at stake."
Rotatris
iOS, Android | Free | Available now
A simple touchscreen take on Tetris. It reminds me of Welltris, a variant that I played on MS-DOS back in the day.
Shock Tactics
Windows, OS X, Linux | $TBA | Late 2016
From developer Point Blank Games: "Shock Tactics is inspired by the space western style of Firefly and games like Jagged Alliance and X-COM. The game is set on an ancient alien homeworld, procedurally generated each time you start a new game."
Tales Across Time
Windows | $3 | Available now
From Australian developer Critical Games: "This linear, narrative-driven experience uses the classic short-story format to tell the tale of three different characters; each living centuries apart, but in the same location. Each tale presents a different experience. Explore a haunted, ancient ruin; help a young woman save her town and her love; face off with an unstoppable masked killer. Many tales have been told across time; will yours be able to transcend it?"
Versus: Battle of the Gladiator
Windows | $TBA | Summer 2016
From South Korean developer Netker: "Versus is a gladiatorial PvP action game with brutal non-targeting melee combat. You're a slave gladiator captured by Claderan empire, the conqueror of the world. Fight alone, or team up other players in bloody gladiatorial battle to prove your strength." The game has already been greenlit for Steam.
War Cube
Windows | $TBA | Sometime 2016 | Demo
From Brazilian developer Artur Rezende: "War Cube is a strategy game. Each team is on a face of the cube and the player must turn [the sides] to position [their] troops so that they stop in an attacking position, being behind or beside the enemy."
