Halloween party ideas 2015

Siralim 2 is a procedurally generated RPG with light roguelike elements. You take on the role of a mage who summons powerful creatures to fight in his stead. The game includes over 500 different creatures to summon, each with their own unique abilities that drastically change the way the game is played.

Despite sounding like a sequel of sorts, Siralim 2 is in fact a whole new game. Sure, the core mechanics are the same, but there's a lot of stuff added on top and there's no need to have played the first game before. Its premise is simple: you go out into the world, battle monsters to get stronger, and extract essences from your enemies that let you summon even more creatures. Despite there being a story, there's not really an end to the game, so you can either play the randomly generated levels ad infinitum or until you caught all the monsters. And bred them all. And fully upgraded your castle. You get the idea.

The pixel graphics make this almost seem harmless, but the simple appearance hides tons of stats and numbers and other stuff you can really sink your teeth into. There are many different kinds of items, equipment and spells for your monsters, craftables, and so much more. The turn-based battles are gloriously chaotic as well, with spells flying around, buffs and debuffs leading to surprise twists in the action, and lots of interdependencies you can use to your advantage. Yet, despite this mind-boggling complexity, the game somehow manages to be accessible and super-easy to play, which might actually be its biggest accomplishment.

All of this makes Siralim 2 a weird hodgepodge of a game that's equal parts fun, compelling, and downright strange. If monster collecting is your jam, you should definitely give this one a closer look.

Siralim 2 is currently available for $13.49 as an Early Access title on Steam. When the game is done, it will also be released on mobile devices, Playstation Vita, and Playstation 4. For more information on the game and developer Thylacine Studios, you can head to the game's website.
