The robots have taken over Earth and are throwing a huge party after getting rid of all humans. We can't have that, so you, presumably the last human, reduced to a brain in a jar, break out of your predicament, enter a robotic body, and go out there to cause some trouble for those pesky tin cans! Now shoot your way through small mazes full of evil robots, face fearsome bosses, and be sure to collect all the loot. But be careful: you've only got one life.
Neurovoider combines twin-stick action, the loot-based gameplay of action-rpgs, and the random generation of roguelikes into one irresistible package. There are three base classes of robots for every play style - pick a Dash if you're into close combat, pick a Rampage for a good balance between speed and sturdiness, or pick a Fortress if you like big, bulky tanks with enormous firepower. You can change those classes at anytime, just swap out the respective parts. Loot is dropping like candy, anyway, so experimenting with different stuff is more than encouraged.
The real joy lies in the customization. You're allowed to take two guns with you into combat, and you can mix and match to your heart's content. Double-wielding rocket launchers, a flamethrower combined with a gauss rifle, shotguns and grenades - you name it. There are a ton of different weapons in the game, and selling unneeded stock provides you with enough money to upgrade your existing loadout even further. You're going to need all that firepower for sure, considering that even on its easiest difficulty, Neurovoider is no walk in the park. But then, it's fun and motivating to see how far your little pickled brain can make it this time.
Early Access has been good to Flying Oak Games: with 13.000 bits of player-submitted feedback and weekly updates, Neurovoider has been polished so much, it positively shines. Nothing seems haphazard; instead, there's a set of interlocking, balanced mechanics beneath all those pixels that makes the game hard to resist both for twin-stick shooter aficionados and passionate loot collectors alike.
You can purchase Neurovoider from itch.io and Steam for $13.99. If you like the soundtrack or want to take a peek at the different builds and listen to some director's commentary, be sure to check out the Deluxe Edition DLC for $8.99. For more information, you can visit the game's website or follow Flying Oak Games on Twitter or Facebook.
