Demon Peak doesn't exactly sound like the kind of place folks dream about taking a trip to, but yet here we are, joining an unnamed swordsman on a journey throughout its perilous cliffsides and deadly caverns. Sure, it's nice to be part of a chosen few to be selected to undertake this adventure filled with action, exploration, and pretty, fluid pixels, but life is about so much more than just slaying beasts, right?

Nah, who am I kidding?

Demon Peak draws from the Metroidvania formula, giving players new powers as they explore a sprawling world. It also looks to offer some sharp-looking combat, having you use various weapons to face monsters and huge creatures, each with a Japanese mythology flare. Fighting defensively will be very important, too, as the game promises very little in the way of mercy.

Those looking to see how they'll be brutalized in the full version (and who want to take in some of the smooth combat) can feel free to try out the demo from Itch.io.

For more information on Demon Peak, you can follow the game on Facebook, YouTube, and Tumblr.
