A justice-dealing fusion of man and machine in a neon city of wild gangs and chaos. No, that isn't a description of Robocop or Judge Dredd, but of new pixel art action game MiniLaw: Ministry of Law. Currently on Steam Early Access, MiniLaw puts you in control of the fearsome Constable as he wipes out the crime infestation of future dystopia Babel.
Armed with your high-tech armor, bionic upgrades, and powerful weapons, the Constable is a force to be reckoned with. Scanning the city of Babel to locate criminal activity, you drop from your hovercraft with a heavy metal thud into dens of gangs and other criminals ranging from mutants to mech suit-wearing psychos. But they are no match for your melee and weapons, sending enemies flying across the room with boosted kicks and unleashed automatic fire and shotgun blasts from your multi-ammo handgun.
However, in MiniLaw, force is not your only option. In fact, killing recklessly will negatively affect your post-mission rating. Each enemy has a resolve meter and stamina, and you can influence those to deal with criminals non-lethally. A stern shout and a warning shot can cause enemies to surrender, while your punches and headbutts can knock them unconscious.
MiniLaw currently features a sizable amount of levels and upgrades in its current state, with more locations and enemy types coming in the future as well as an expanded narrative and additional ending.
MiniLaw: Ministry of Law is available for $7.99 on Steam and itch.io. You can learn more about the game and developer Lasso Games on their site.
