Halloween party ideas 2015

The Fermi Paradox - the absence of evidence for extraterrestrial intelligence in spite of its high probability - continues to engage and fascinate, some 67 years after Enrico Fermi first uttered the famous question, "where is everybody?" Developers Black Hive Media decided to use this as basis for their upcoming side-scrolling action RPG Kova.

The game has you playing as Kova, a mercenary-explorer, travelling the galaxy. After stumbling upon an ancient beacon, you set out to uncover "a mystery as old as time." There will be different factions, RPG-style leveling, crafting, and a whole lot of exploring, of course. The game also promises FPS-like shooting mechanics with different firing modes and a cover system.

This all sounds well and good, and the available videos seem promising. It would have been nice to have a short teaser demo before throwing your money at the current Kickstarter campaign for Kova, but alas, this will sadly only be available to backers, and only after funding is met.

Still, the game looks intriguing enough to warrant further attention, with a neat, distinct visual style and pleasantly sci-fi-sounding soundtrack. Console versions are also promised, but given that these are usually pretty expensive and time-consuming, Black Hive Media won't give an ETA and focus on finishing the PC version first.

Kova is currently raising funds on Kickstarter, with a planned release date of December 2017 and a funding goal of $28.000. With 17 days to go, they could certainly use a bit of assistance. If you want to know more about developer Black Hive Media, follow them on Facebook or Twitter.
