With a gorgeous design, a really cool mechanic, and an endearing protagonist, Letters sets the stage for a touching story that will keep you thinking the whole way through.
You will have to examine the letters that have been given to you, dissecting the words within to solve creative-thinking puzzles.
Sarah, the protagonist, will be chatting with her friend Katya through letters and chat messages. You will be in control of how these words are received and how they will shape Sarah’s future. You can figure out how life is going at school, home, and with friends based on the words you will choose. Sarah will grow from a child and into a young adult, shaped by the messages you have (hopefully) crafted. Different futures await for different responses, so you may end up with vastly different experiences depending on how you play.
You’ll be interacting with these letters and words as a small character walking along a screen or letter, using the available letters and words to form the message you need. You’ll need to solve riddles by using the provided words, or even break them apart to create a new possibility. Most puzzles will allow for a couple different solutions, so feel free to get as creative as you like (but keep in mind that some of these words may have a negative impact on Sarah!).
As you create these letters, you will watch as this character grows, and may even see shades of yourself based on the hardships they encounter throughout the story. Without a doubt, Letters will be worth a shot for anyone who enjoys a creative storytelling experience and a thought-provoking set of puzzles.
Letters is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can support its creation through Kickstarter. You can also check the demo out on Itch.io and add the game to your Steam Wishlist.
