WurdWizard tests your observational skills as well as your sword arm, tasking you with spelling out words while you try to cut down the enemies in your way.
WurdWizard is a runner game with a few new twists. You are constantly moving forward into an army of various enemies, and these creatures can really do a number on your health. So, you will need to use your sword to attack anything coming your way. This may seem like a simple idea, but as more and more enemies come, it becomes more challenging to time your attacks correctly.
Speaking of timing, you also will see loads of platforms above you, some with black boxes that can be bumped into and destroyed, others have stars that can be added to the score, and yellow boxes have letters. These letters can be hit and then appear at the top of the screen, forming a word, which can be submitted for a special type of coins.
These coins can be used to upgrade your weapons and gain spells, making all of the fighting a whole lot easier. The only issue is the delay when you jump. Your timing will need to be very good to find the right letters to make a word. This turns the game into a constant struggle to make words, fight monsters, and move forward. You can jump, which means you can get on top of platforms, but that’s not very helpful within the game, anyway.
I am not the best at thinking quickly when it comes to spelling, but I did manage to get quite a few words in. My biggest issue was that A is used to attack and S is used to submit words, so I often found myself mistakenly pushing the wrong key so that the word cleared too early or I instead attacked.
WurdWizard is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its creation on the game’s site.
