Every year in August, Cologne briefly turns into the center of the universe for all things gaming. Gamescom, Europe's biggest videogames trade fair, turns the whole city upside-down. Now, after 9 months of preparation, the first major game jam at Gamescom has officially been announced: The Innogames Jam, sponsored by the Intel Diversity Fund. Held right next to the Gamescom halls in the Congress Center, 300 developers from all around the world will be creating games in 48 hours. The winners will be awarded a free showcase spot at Gamescom's lovely Indie Arena Booth.
You can now sign up for the jam; submissions will be accepted until the end of June. Participants can look forward to 3-day-access passes for Gamescom, catering, a place to put their sleeping bags, and 300 new friendships waiting to happen - all for the modest fee of 50€. (If you've tried to secure accomodation in Cologne during Gamescom before, you probably know that this sounds like excellent value for money. Besides, making new friends is priceless, anyway!)
