Ever find yourself hurtling down a snowy hill in an inner tube, struggling to steer? Snowdown aims to capture that sensation, having you work to keep your tube on the track.
Not that you never have control as you play Snowdown. You can steer your tube as much as you like while your Control Timer bar still has something in it. Fiddling with your direction will drain the bar, though, so making too many minor corrections will leave you without the ability to change your route along the way. You can aim for Time Gates to refill the bar a bit, though, so you might not be totally committed to the direction you’re going.
While adding more time is nice, you may prefer to expend your efforts in aiming at Hazard Rings instead. Going through these will add an array of traps to the map, adding more mayhem for the other racers. A relaxing slide down the mountain can only get better with pendulum blades, right? Especially when you can watch the results of all of the players’ moves all play out at once in a video about your racing escapades. Which is much better with more traps.
Fifty different inner tubes (most of which are pretty dag silly) and a multiplayer option make Snowdown into a delightful experience in racing and mayhem. That you only have so much control over it all, and have to know when to exercise that control or just let chaos rule, makes it all the better.
Snowdown is available now on itch.io.
