School can be a source of dread for many of us growing up. Bullying, testing, and other fun pressures make school a difficult environment all of us had to endure. Youngho is dealing with a little bit of all of those things, but also the fact that he can't seem to leave the building. And that the halls are covered in strange, sickening growths that poison on contact. And that his favorite teacher is chasing him around with an axe. She's fast, too. VERY fast. Expect a rough final day of exams in The Coma: Cutting Class, out today on Steam.

Running and hiding is a common gameplay style for horror games lately, but The Coma: Cutting Class tweaks the formula to make it much more interesting than most. For starters, don't expect to stumble across your enemy in the dark. Great sound design means you will know if she is around, and know the exact moment she's noticed you, even if you're surrounded in the building's impenetrable murk. Once she sees you, it's time for an adrenaline-fueled chase, as the enemy is beyond quick, making most horror enemies look plodding and slow by comparison. Unlike you, she has infinite stamina, though, so you'll need to hide in a hurry if you hope to ditch her.

Hiding is typically a low point in these games - an exercise in boredom while you wait for the monster to just go away. Here, you can check your inventory, grab a snack to fix up your health, and check on your map to plan your next move as you wait for her to go away. These moments should break the tension, but they're the only time you truly feel safe, as once you're outside of your hiding spot, you're vulnerable again. You know these few seconds are all the calm you'll have before you're out in the halls, where she's always patrolling for you. Your enemy is never far, and she doesn't care if you're reading item descriptions, unlocking a door, or talking to another character. She will scream, and she will cut you down if she sees you. The Coma: Cutting Class is run and hide horror done right - a constant battle with an enemy that is fast, persistent, and merciless.

The Coma: Cutting class will be available today to $14.99 on Steam. For more information on the game and Devespresso Games, you can head to the developer's site or follow them on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
