Wargaming.net is bringing their multiplayer tank combat game, World of Tanks, to the PS4, and to prepare for that they have announced that there will be an Open Beta of the game on the weekend of December 4th through 6th. Stating that no signups will be required, it will be a chance for Playstation 4 owners to sample what is to come when the hit free to play title launches later on.

Continuing on with their usual monetization, the game promises no "pay to win" content, as all premium purchases are either cosmetic items or experience boosts. As well, any in-game progression earned during the Beta weekend will carry over to the full release.

There will be a bonus tank unlocked for people who download the Beta, with a special Playstation-themed emblem. A second premium tank, the M22 Locust with another custom emblem, will be given to anyone who plays during the Beta as well. In addition they have announced that post-launch there will be PS4 exclusive content, in the form of free premium tanks as well as maps which the team claims to be the largest they have ever made for World of Tanks.

During that weekend they will also be in booth #1200 with a playable version of the game at the Playstation Experience at Moscone West in San Francisco, California. Planned for that event will be staff presentations, hourly prizes, player competitions, and a chance for a third premium tank for people in attendance.

World of Tanks is a free to play tank combat game released initially in 2010. It has been on PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It features five different playable classes of tank, and the PS4 version will support 15 vs. 15 team combat over dozens of maps. It will be free to all PS4 owners, not requiring a Playstation Plus account to play.

Wargaming.net was founded in 1998 and has shipped more than 15 titles. Currently, the award-winning company is focusing on their team based war MMO series, with World of Warships, World of Warplanes, and perhaps most notably, World of Tanks. Initially starting out in Minsk, Bealrus, the company now has its headquarters in Nicosia, Cyprus, while having employees located all over the world.
