Ghost 1.0, the new metroidvania by the delevoper of UnEpic, makes you the ghost in the machine. Quite literally, too, as you're able to leave your robotic body and possess other machines. This allows you to operate switches you couldn't otherwise reach or thin out the enemy lines from within. It's a neat little concept and I cannot remember it being featured this prominently in a metroidvania before.
Tasked with entering an orbital research station and, uh, borrowing some top secret AI plans, you forge ahead into the labyrinthine corridors and rooms, solve puzzles, shoot other robots, get new power-ups that let you access new areas... the works. Your two "super hacker" operators give you moral support, which may not always be helpful, but often pretty funny. The game feels rather challenging, especially when you're playing survival mode, which allows for faster progression but makes you lose everything when you die. There's around 15 hours of delicious metroidvania action waiting for you in Ghost 1.0 and, as a fan of the genre, I can only recommend it.
