The first Heroes of Loot by Pascal 'Orangepixel' Bestebroer was an action-filled dungeon crawling romp inspired by arcade classic Gauntlet. Now the game's back for another round: Heroes of Loot 2 has just been released after a brief stint in early access (which dramatically improved the game by axing half of its 100 levels, among other things). This time, you control two characters at once, a ranged character and a melee fighter. You can switch them at will, and all of the four available characters play slightly differently. They level up and can also collect rare runes which permanently unlock magic spells to help you on future runs.

The main game comes with 50 procedurally generated levels, filled to the brim with monsters, mini-bosses, and NPCs that hand out quests you have to complete in order to advance. These are no longer optional and add some variety to the first game's "kill - move on - repeat" gameplay. Other neat stuff like more traps, boss fights, arenas, and a visual overhaul with improved lighting effects make this second iteration the definitive version of the game. With additional co-op and survival modes that truly round out this package, Heroes of Loot 2 offers enough stuff to make every dungeon crawling aficionado very, very happy.

Heroes of Loot 2 is available for $9.99 on itch.io and Steam, as well as iOS and Android ($3.99). The mobile versions have a 50% discount during launch week. For more information on the game and developer Orangepixel, you can head to the game's website or follow him on Twitter.
