Halloween party ideas 2015

Two years ago, we first wrote about Path to the Sky, a pixel-art roguelite platformer set across airborne islands that was seeking votes on Steam Greenlight. Today, in the wake of its major 0.2 update on Early Access, the game has evolved and expanded in myriad ways, as your hero fights feathered foes with an arsenal of weapons and upgrades.

Stranded on an expansive floating archipelago, you character, either bow-wielding Arkano or now the staff-carrying Farja with the latest update, must traverse onwards and upwards, evading traps and hazards along the way. Your most dangerous foes are the birds, each randomly generated with different attacks and attributes. From big bruisers who carry shields to smaller fowls who can fire homing projectiles, dodging their attacks and leaping overhead to line up effective attacks is a test of agility and precision.

Your fighters are equally equipped however, able to carry a diverse arsenal of bows, weapons, and ability-modifying relics found in chests or bought from shopkeepers. Spread shot arrows, shotguns, homing frost bolts, and much more fill out your offensive options, while your trusty shield and dodge roll lets you protect and dodge with skill.

The roguelite action is presented in a charmingly boxy pixel-art style, all thick outlines and vibrant colors. Bouncy physics mean grass and rope bridges sway from your movements and the force of explosions.

Path to the Sky available on Steam Early Access and through Humble, with more playable characters, biomes, weapons, items, and additional content to come. The game is currently on sale for $6.99 for PC and Mac, 33% off its usual price of $9.99.
