With the Steam Summer Sale in full swing, the Indiegames.com team has gotten together and created a list of recommendations for great, varied indie games at cheap prices.
McPixel is a ridiculous point & click game. Giving players a few seconds to figure out which items work together to solve a given situation, it will leave them scrambling to find a solution or desperately kicking the game's populace in the crotch. Whether you fail or win doesn't really matter - either way, something goofy is going to happen.
20XX
Batterystaple Games | PC, Mac
20XX takes Mega Man X-like action and turns it into a roguelike. Players will control a laser blasting or beam-saber swinging fighting robot, working their way across procedurally-generated environments while fighting huge bosses and collecting rewards and gear. Also: co-op.
Insanity's Blade
Causal Bit Games Inc | PC, Mac
Insanity's Blade offers up intense sidescrolling arcade action, getting players to rip undead to shreds using hands, fists, swords, and flung daggers. Everything you do in its is over-the-top, from throwing flaming knives, to tearing monsters' arms off to punching enemies until they explode, making for ridiculous fun. Players can also bring a friend into the mayhem, joining them in the shower of pixellated gore in local co-op.
Pony Island
Daniel Mullins Games | PC, Mac
Pony Island is a game about being trapped in a malfunctioning arcade machine controlled by the devil just a cute game about ponies. Blow away butterflies. Jump over fences. It's so cute and harmless and there's nothing at all scary or weird about it. You definitely won't have to repair its creepy code to find a means to escape demonic digital forces. No sir.
The Sea Will Claim Everything
Jonas Kyratzes | PC, Mac
An air of innocence obscures the dark, depressing truths of The Sea Will Claim Everything. Its characters seem happy. It's world looks happy. Yet something is wrong beneath the surface of it all - something that seems so foolish and avoidable and terrible at the same time. Haunting despite its cute visuals and humorous moments, it is an incredible point & click tale. Plus Chris Christodoulou's score for the game is just stunning in its beauty.
